The Astrology of Relationships

Join world renowned International astrologer Karen Hamaker-Zondag in Bali, for 9 days of enlightening, heart opening astrological exploration of a subject of paramount importance in everyone's life.

Karen is returning to her roots, her paternal grandfather being Indonesian, to present this workshop in an idyllic location set in the tropical ricefields of Bali. We will explore the many facets of human relationships through the fascinating and illuminating lens of astrology.

• Your 7th house tells you more about yourself than about your partner.
  Each of the planets in the 7th house or in aspect to the ruler of the 7th house is a special instrument you can use in a positive way, and each planet has its own defense-, flight and fight mechanisms. Knowing your unconscious drives here will help you a lot in establishing a better relationship.
  
  
• There are many parts of your chart that have a big impact on your relationship, some of which you don't see immediately.
  We will discuss the influence of many of them, for example, unaspected planets, the elements, yods, etc.
  
  
• The special role of the fixed houses (2,5,8 and 11) in relationships.
  These are very often overlooked, we'll discuss their mechanisms and how they affect our attitudes and expectations in relationships.
  
  
• Synastry and the composite chart: how can you use these techniques as a tool in therapy and in understanding your own relationship better?
  How do aspects towards each other work? What can you do with a composite chart?
  
  
• Early synastry and its influence on relationships in adult life.
  How does the synastry with key-persons in your early youth influence you and your chart, and how does this affect your relationships, whether it be your partner, your boss, your children, etc. when you are adult.
  
  
• Hidden relationships-issues in the chart
  How do early youth experiences and feelings influence relationships? We’ll examine the role of the 12th house
  What is the role your 8th house in relationships: repressions, anxieties, the power of hidden gifts, etc.
  What is the projection-mechanism in Jungian psychology and how are we projecting contents of our charts on other persons? For example how do you experience your aspects: in an inner way, or do you experience and feel them as a part of the outside world?
  
  
• Sexuality in the horoscope: a much more complex issue than looking at just Venus and Mars!

We will learn that whatever a chart says, that if you understand your needs and wishes, your unconscious expectations and projections, you can have a happy relationship with whatever planet in the 7th and whatever aspects to Sun, Moon, Mars or Venus. Shaping your life according to the person you really are is the best way of keeping your relationship healthy.

This workshop will be of great value to astrology students or practitioners at any level. Basic astrology will not be taught, however basic understanding of the planets, signs, houses and aspects is all that is required for participation.

July 1st is a celebration of the new moon in Bali (they celebrate all lunations, full and new), and at 6:00 am in the morning we will head for an ancient Balinese temple in a town called Tampak Siring. Here we will join the local people in a ritual bathing/purification ceremony followed by a temple blessing, women during their cycle do not participate.

That evening there will be another group trip to watch a Kecak (fire) Trance dance. We will have a teaching session between the time we return from the temple, around 9:30 am, until 1:00 pm, and then a short afternoon session from 3:00~4:30 pm. There will then be a break before we go to the dance performance.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

Dates: June 23rd ~July 2nd, 2011.

Everyone is asked to arrive on the 23rd so there will be time for acclimating and recovering from jet-lag (that night's accommodation are part of the Melati package). We do ask that everybody be resident in the hotel by the evening of the 23rd.

We will have an orientation meeting and official opening in the Meditation Hall,at 8:30 am on June 24th. This will be an important time for introductions, connecting with one another and setting the stage for this time we will share together, please be in the hall and seated by at least ...... A simple but significant traditional Balinese offering will be made at this time.


Daily Schedule:

6:00 am - 7.15 am ~ Optional Daily Yoga
6:30 am - 8:15 am ~ Buffet Breakfast for Melati Cottages residents.
8:30 am -1:00 pm ~ Astrology Session
1:00 pm - 2:30 pm ~ Buffet Lunch for Melati residents.

**Afternoons are times for the organized group activities, massages, or whatever individuals choose to do, nothing is mandatory, except for listening to yourself and acting accordingly.

Evenings are free

Please stay somewhat flexible around scheduling, much will depend on the group dynamic, while at the same time respecting individual needs.
