Getting Creative With Your Photography
with Jean Fogelberg
September 2-11, 2020
Travel, Learn, Shop, Create
Come explore the charming villages and lush countryside of Shropshire, England with us.
Traveling with the group, you'll make new friends while we explore ancient castles, have afternoon tea and scones, walk the local river walks and gardens, dine at the best restaurants, and shop at local stores and outdoor markets.
You'll learn how to set up your own online POD (Print On Demand) account to create gifts for family and friends. When you're ready, you can go public and sell your images on greeting cards, mugs, clothing, business cards, calendars, iphone cases, pillows, and hundreds more items.
And there's no need to set up credit card readers or collect boxes for shipping your merchandise, everything is done for you in your new store. All you have to do is upload your photos, choose merchandise to put them on, and add text.
One Good Image
That's all you'll need to start creating, and with all the excursions and wandering we'll be doing in GORGEOUS Shropshire, you're going to have many, many images to choose from.
Have you always wanted to make cool memes for Facebook or Instagram? If you have a photo you like and something to say, you'll be popping them out in no time.
Experience & Equipment
Beginner to experienced photographers are welcome.
Cameras: Bring your smartphone, iPad or android tablet, digital camera, whatever you take photos with. Just remember, the better quality the photo (image size + resolution,) the better your products will look.
Devices: iPads, tablets, or laptops are best for preparing your image and uploading to your POD account. (While experienced POD users can upload images and manage products from their smartphones, it's not recommended for beginners.)
Device accessory: If you'll be shooting with a digital camera you will need a card reader to load your images into your laptop or tablet.
Software & apps: No matter what you're going to take photos with, you will need a way to make your images look their best before uploading them. There are many apps out there for taking selfies or making funny faces but you will need a photo editing app or software program on your laptop, tablet or smartphone. Jean recommends Adobe Photoshop CC ($9.99 a month for the Photography Plan) for laptops and the Adobe Lightroom app for tablets and/or smartphones (find in your App store.)
If you have any questions, contact Jean.
Cute to Majestic
Our wanderings will take us to many different places.
You'll see flowers, cute and majestic animals, ancient castles, charming villages, a Victorian town complete with reenactment actors, and rolling green hills dotted with sheep.
Are you a beginner photographer?
Jean will be there to help you get the best shots possible - just ask!
Eye Can See Clearly Now
How many times have you taken a fantastic picture, only to open it on your computer and find
it doesn't look as good as the original scene?
Cameras aren't nearly as adept as the human eye when it comes to perceiving light.
The right software program or app can recapture that original magic.
In this workshop you will learn how to bring out the best in your photos.
We'll be staying at Abbot's Mead, a lovely hotel right in the heart of Shrewsbury and close to the river, gardens, shopping, restaurants and pubs. We've reserved the entire hotel for our group so we'll have breakfasts and class times to ourselves. There's Andrew, the owner, waiting to welcome us!
