Rick Levine

Rick Levine is a world-renowned astrologer, scholar and author. He continues to be a widely respected voice in the global astrology community, giving professional talks and seminars around the world. He has a special gift for bridging the gaps between astrology and spirituality, science and religion, the head and the heart. Rick has been sharing his astrological wisdom through Heaven and Earth Workshops in Bali, Mexico and India since 2006.

For over twenty years, millions of readers from around the world became acquainted with the relevance of astrology through Rick’s authentic daily horoscopes that appeared on Yahoo, AOL, Huffington Post, LA Times, Tarot.com and many other sites. Tens of thousands of serious astrology students view Rick’s teachings on YouTube.

Rick Levine is a founding trustee of Kepler College, co-founder (with Jeff Jawer) of StarIQ.com and co-author of eight editions of Barnes and Noble’s annual Your Astrology Guide. He is the subject of Sacred Mystery’s DVD, “Quantum Astrology: Science, Spirit, and Our Place in the Cycles of History.”

In February 2018, Rick was awarded the title of “The International Astrologer of the Year” at the Krishnamurti Institute of Astrology’s 28th International Astrology Conference in Kolkata, India. In March 2019, he was awarded the “Fomalhaut Award for Astrological Excellence” in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2022, he was awarded the “Favorite Social Media Content Creator” and “Favorite Astrology YouTube Channel” by ISAR (The International Society for Astrological Research).

Rick Levine’s articles and poems have graced the pages of many magazines and websites, including The Mountain Astrologer. He is a true modern-day wizard, a net-junkie, a lover of fine red wine and is rumoured to have been initiated into his astrological studies by Pythagoras, himself.

For many years, Initiation into Astrology has been offered as a twelve-day, full-immersion residential retreat welcoming students at every stage of their astrological journey. This year marks a deliberate and exciting evolution of the programme. Astrology in Motion, an advanced immersion, is designed specifically for serious astrologers, either those preparing to work professionally, or advanced amateurs who are ready to move beyond foundational instruction. Rather than reviewing planets, signs, houses, and aspects, the retreat focuses on the practical application of astrology: synthesis, timing, communication skills, and the realities of working with clients, or diving more intensely into your own and others' charts.

One central theme of this retreat is the exploration of what makes an ideal astrology communication/consultation. Participants will examine how to prepare for a discussion, how to listen deeply, and how to frame and understand astrological information in meaningful and ethical ways. Together we will learn how to navigate the balance between technique, intuition, and human connection. We will explore the development of communication and consultation skills that support clarity, confidence, and trust while recognising that astrology is practiced not only with charts but with people.

From a technical perspective, participants will work extensively with timing techniques, integrating transits, secondary progressions, and solar arc directions, into coherent interpretive frameworks. Emphasis is placed on synthesis—learning how multiple timing systems speak to one another and how to translate that information into language that is both accurate and accessible.

Relationship astrology is another key area of focus. Participants will explore synastry and composite charts, examining how these techniques illuminate interpersonal dynamics, shared purpose, and relational patterns over time. Additional advanced techniques include working with midpoints and midpoint pictures, as well as harmonic charts and harmonic aspects, expanding participants’ technical vocabulary and interpretive range.

*As an addendum, for those planning to work professionally, extra classes will be offered to address the professional dimension of astrological practice, including how to grow and sustain an astrological business. We will develop individual business plans to start, maintain, or expand your practice. Additional topics include defining one’s niche, marketing, using social media, setting boundaries, structuring sessions, and aligning professional work with personal values. Our discussions will be grounded in lived experience and practical application rather than abstract theory. All extra classes are 100% optional.

An important feature of this retreat is the opportunity to experience OPA’s Peer Group process in a supportive environment. This process will be worked into our time together and is modelled on the professional standards developed by OPA (Organization for Professional Astrology). Through Peer Group work, participants will learn how to handle complex and difficult situations and elevate communication skills. Through structured feedback, participants gain insight into their strengths, refine interpretive skills, and learn how to offer and receive constructive critique in an ethical and professional way.

The learning experience is further enriched through astro-drama and experiential astrology techniques, inviting participants to embody astrological symbols, explore charts through movement and dialogue, and engage astrology as a living, participatory language. These methods support deeper integration of both technical knowledge and personal insight.

While the retreat includes specific areas of study, the group process itself plays a central role. Learning unfolds not only through instruction, but through shared inquiry, discussion, and lived experience. The intention is to create an environment in which each participant gains new perspectives, integrates personal growth experiences, and leaves with practical tools that can be applied immediately in their lives and astrological studies and work.

Astrology in Motion is a retreat designed for those ready to step more fully into the role of astrologer, whether professionally or as a life enhancement tool, as you refine your craft, deepen your confidence, and engage astrology as a meaningful, ethical, and evolving practice.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Is This Retreat Right for You?

This advanced Astrology in Motion retreat is designed for astrologers who are ready to move beyond foundational learning and engage the craft either at a professional level or through heightened personal study and exploration.

This programme is a good fit if you:

  • are either a practicing astrologer, actively preparing to work professionally, or a committed student looking to take your knowledge and studies to a higher level

  • have a solid working knowledge of planets, signs, houses, and aspects

  • want to deepen your skills in chart synthesis, timing, and communication - as a professional,  or simply as a life enhancement tool

  • are interested in refining both technical expertise and presentation

  • value learning through dialogue, feedback, and group process

This retreat might not be a good fit if you:

  • are brand new to astrology

  • are primarily seeking introductory or survey-style instruction

  • prefer highly scripted teaching with minimal group interaction

Participants should come prepared to engage actively, share work, and explore astrology as both a technical discipline and a living practice. The retreat emphasises  growth, ethical awareness, and personal development as inseparable aspects of astrological mastery.

THE CURRICULUM: CORE AREAS OF EXPLORATION

Our curriculum is flexible enough to allow for the expressed needs and desires of the group, along with the richness of the group process itself. Accordingly, we may take a few scenic detours along the way, but the overall course material will be covered. ACCOMMODATION

Our accommodation is just up the hill from Palolem beach at Bhakti Kutir; a simple, charming, rustic, magical retreat centre, with the friendliest staff you could ever hope to meet.

Set amidst verdant gardens and coconut palms, there are monkeys and birds in the treetops, and an abundance of colourful tropical plants surround the rooms. Bhakti Kutir has basic comforts, fresh local organic food, and is an easy short walk to  beautiful beaches and local villages. The sand is smooth and golden and the water calm and warm; the food delicious and the shopping  wonderfully affordable.

There are  single occupancy places, plus some doubles/shared, all with private bathrooms and running hot water.

Every single hut is different and full of character. Some bigger or slightly more westernised, some older, some newer, and some could technically be described as "nicer", and because of this rooms are always allocated on a 1st come basis, so out of fairness we do not take special requests on accommodation - unless mobility-related.

We encourage everybody interested to look closely at our venue's website. Part of the experience is the earthy natural location we have chosen, but it is not for everyone!

Early sign-ups get the more 'favourable' of the rooms - although Evelyn and Rick both choose to stay in a couple of the older, simpler rooms, because they prefer them - so it is of course all relative!

We are allocating all the rooms, and this will avoid people having to move around unnecessarily, creating extra work for the staff.

Please note the hotel already has bookings pre our workshop, if you need extra days let us know ASAP!

Extra nights will be paid for at check out, plus each individual/room may have a running tab for extra sundries, such as meals not included, beverages and laundry, also to be paid for at departure.

If you plan on an Ayurvedic treatment course, we highly recommend you book appointments ahead of time, and outside of classroom hours please

*Offsite Students (group meals at BK & excursions included)

$3,080 USD per person

If you are coming solo and want to room-share, please contact us so we can find a suitable room-mate for you.

We have booked the main area of Bhakti Kutir for this event. There are dormitory blocks that we will not be utilising.

*We frequently have people ask if they may bring a spouse/friend/children to share their accommodation, meals, etc. Since the work is personal and intensive, and the containment and integrity of the group paramount, for the comfort of other attendees we do not accommodate non-participants staying in the hotel.  Likewise, we also have students who prefer to stay in different locations.

Since we are hiring almost the whole of Bhakti Kutir, we are obligated to pay for rooms, whether we utilise them or not, therefore we do not offer tuition only places per se. You may, however, find your own accommodation close by and pay the shared occupancy price. You may, of course, have all inclusive meals at BK.

Thank you for understanding.

All payments to be made through Wise (any country) or Zelle or Venmo (only US sign-ups)

Travel expenses and most dinners are the responsibility of the workshop participant.

Please let us know ahead of time if you have any medically based dietary requirements.

Due  to popular demand we now include 2 full days off, so those with limited time may enjoy different parts of Goa (or just bask on the glorious beaches with cocktail in hand!). We will be happy to suggest different excursions and help with any arrangements.

If you have any questions about passports, travel insurance, or how to get there, we are happy to assist in any way we can. Visit our travel arrangements page.
