Delhi! We will meet up with everyone and immediately head to Agra (210 Kms / 4 -5 Hrs). For participants joining us for this leg of the trip only we say welcome.
We will be travelling by private luxury vehicle the whole time, allowing us the freedom to stop whenever we like; for shooting, eating or whatever else we fancy.
We will check into our hotel in Agra; Crystal Sarovar, and then have a free afternoon and early evening. There are some shops in and around the hotel.
We will leave before sunrise to experience one of the Wonders of the World, the glorious Taj Mahal. We will then return to our hotel, have breakfast, pack up and head for Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary (56 Km/1hr).
We will check into The Birder's Inn, and then take a guide and bicycle rick-shaws into the park. This is a wondrous place for bird and wild-life shots. Some people may want to come back for sunset shooting, and we picked a hotel close to the park so this would be easy to do . Bicycle hire is available.
There will be time in the morning for those wanting to go back into the park for sunrise and another chance to photograph all the birds and other wildlife. Then breakfast in the hotel before we depart.
Mid to late morning we will drive to the glorious capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur (185 km / 4 hrs). On arrival in we check into the Arya Niwas for 4 nights, and the rest of the day and evening can be spent relaxing or exploring the immediate area. Some people may want to begin by visiting a local tailor. We will focus on fabric shopping for the rest of today, especially for those who wish to order custom made clothes.
This will be a busy morning of exploring this magnificent colourful city. After breakfast we will visit the Amber Fort, The Jal Mahal Palace in the middle of the lake, the City Palace, the Observatory, the Palace of Winds (built for the women to observe outside life while completely invisible themselves). All tours are optional.
This evening there will be an optional cooking class and dinner at a local home.
This morning we will have a walking tour through the old city and the local markets followed by a day of shopping in one of the most fantastic places in the world for gems, jewellery, handicrafts and anything else the group might be interested in.
There will also be ample time for relaxation and we will arrange other activities for those who do not wish to shop.
After breakfast we will drive to Udaipur (398 Kms / 7-8 hours). This will be our longest day of travel so Jean will be available to do one to one coaching on the bus, and we encourage the fidgety to have some downloaded entertainment on their devices! There will be stops for chai and lunch. We will check into our hotel, Swaroop Vilas, later in the day and have an evening of relaxation.
After a leisurely breakfast we will have a full day in Udaipur. The City Palace, the lovely Sahelion-ki-bari gardens, the Jagdish temple and a local Museum (all optional). This evening we will enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Pichola . From the boat, we will view the city of Udaipur as it rises majestically above the lake in the middle of the Rajasthan desert. Dinner and back to our hotel.
A 2nd day in Udaipur to explore, shop and shoot to our heart's content.
After breakfast we will check out and drive to the magnificent Ranakpur carved marble Jain Temple (93 Kms/2 hrs). A marvellous place to shoot, meditate and contemplate. We will then have lunch and drive on to Jodphur (162 Kms/3 hrs); the famed "blue city" of Rajasthan. On arrival we will check into our next lovely hotel, Radisson Blu, where we will spend two nights.
Today we explore Jodhpur. There will also be plenty of time for R & R, massages, wandering, or whatever else anyone wants to do. There is a marvellous fort and many ancient havelis (old homes). An added excursion to the fascinating Bishnoi Village might interest some people.
After breakfast we will drive to our final Rajasthani destination, Jaisalmer (284 Kms/5hrs), and check into the Rang Mahal. Later in the afternoon, some of the group may decide to drive to Sam, 40 Kms. from Jaisalmer, and take and take a camel ride on the sand dunes (optional!) at sunset. Then back to the hotel and dinner.
For those looking for an additional adventure, there will be those choice of taking an early morning train from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer instead of the bus (leaving at 5:00 am). This is about a 7-hour journey that will give a whole new view on Indian life. We can send our luggage on with the bus making this a simple unencumbered experience.
After breakfast our tour begins from “The Jaisalmer Fort”. The fort sits 80 meters high on the Trikuta hill. Still inhabited, there are palaces and bazaars with in the fort walls, which has 99 bastions around the circumference. For the really adventurous there is a local Bhang Shop!
Today we fly back to Delhi and check into our hotel, the Holiday Inn Aerocity, which is conveniently located right next to the airport.
A complete day of sight-seeing around Delhi, tailored the group's wishes, with ample time for shooting street scenes. Then a final farewell dinner together!
Some of us will have night flights home, others may be spending more time in Delhi, or elsewhere in India.
We will be happy to make recommendations to anyone wishing to spend more time in India.
